We stand together

On April 11th, Prague was feminist!

Over three thousand people clearly expressed their views on the freedom of individuals to make decisions about their own bodies. It was heard exactly where it needed to be — in the streets.

We aren't lobbyists walking the halls of parliament. We aren't ministerial advisors cutting support for families in financial distress (shout out to Jan Gregor!). We aren't journalists with the opportunity to write seven paragraphs that thousands of people will then read.

We are workers, we are students, we are fathers and mothers. We are the ones about whom it's usually true that people don't talk with us, but talk about us. The streets are all we have. But the streets are ours.

We don't make distinctions among ourselves and we reject all attempts to force them upon us. We stick together. We see that the debate on the "demographic curve" is being led in advisory positions by the same people who in the past spoke about how sex education in schools should be restricted.

At other times, they've talked about how homosexuals need to be "cured" and that even rape by a soldier of an invading army isn't a sufficient reason for terminating a pregnancy. Or we read the plans that Radim Ucháč writes in private communications within Agenda Europe, and we see how much they differ from the mask he puts on for the public.

Hnutí pro život (Movement for Life) is hypocritical to the core. Unlike Ucháč, we don't want to divide people into victims and heartless bitches. But if we had to divide them, Ucháč would certainly be in that second category. He is one of the last people who should have the right to speak on women's issues or demographic measures.

In the face of people and lobby groups that want to restrict the possibility of the most important and personal life decisions, we say clearly — it is we, people who think in egalitarian and open-minded ways, who are for life. Not Radim Ucháč and his ultra-conservative agenda.

We stand firmly by all the people whom the anti-women lobby wants to sideline, oppress, or straight-up dehumanize. The freedom to do what you want with your own body is a human right, and abortions are healthcare.

Not an inch to the patriarchy!

What is Hpž really?
